Pixel City Home was started by Daniel O'Prey whilst he was a student at the university of Sheffield.
He was bored of his search engine home page and wanted to make something a bit more attractive, whilst still being useful.
The result was a page with graphical links, mostly logos in boxes, which did the job, but still wasn't that pretty.
The page evolved and after seeing an inspirational web site, called lovepixel, he decided to make a home page in pixel art.
He asked some friends which web sites they used the most, and after very little consensus, he decided just to use the big names.
The result was Pixel City Home, which has been growing and evolving ever since thanks to many users contributions.
